Standard stock agencies take possession of the photographer's original image and must have trained staff to edit, catalogue, and archivally store the image. Agencies must also have vast temperature and humidity controlled facilities for the storage of millions of images.

With Photomatica, photographers remain in possession of their original images and do all the cataloguing and uploading of the digital version of their image themselves. Photomatica needs neither staff nor facilities for this purpose.
