Vending Manager

PArT-TIME, IN-PERSON
ORANGE COUNTY/RIVERSIDE, CA SAN DIEGO, CA

We're looking for two on-call Vending Managers — one for San Diego County and one for the Orange County + Riverside County territory — to keep our photo booths running smoothly and looking great.

  • Vending Manager

    About the Role

Photomatica is a San Francisco–based photo booth company placing vending photo booths in bars, venues, and event spaces across California. We're looking for two on-call Vending Managers — one for San Diego County and one for the Orange County + Riverside County territory — to keep our photo booths running smoothly and looking great.

This is a flexible, independent contractor role with no set hours. You won't have a daily schedule — but when a booth needs attention, you'll need to respond immediately. The on-call nature of the role is reflected in the pay.

    Responsibilities

    On-Call Technician

This is the core of the role. You'll receive a health report every Monday and Friday flagging any booths with issues. When a booth is down, your job is to get it back up — ideally same day, and always within 48 hours. The most critical window is Thursday through Saturday, when the majority of revenue is generated.

    • Respond to booth issues within 24 hours of notification (same day on weekends)

    • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software issues on-site

    • Bring your repair kit (tools, parts, supplies) to every venue visit

    • Proactively request replacement parts before they're needed — don't wait until you're out

    • Photo booth parts and media (paper/ink) may be shipped directly to your home

    Booth Maintenance & Appearance

    • Keep every booth clean inside and out at all times — bring wet wipes if needed

    • Ensure each booth has a spare roll or case of media stored in the cabinet at all times

    • Log all issues

    • Make a test photo strip at each visit and note the print count

    Venue Relationship Management

You are Photomatica's face at each venue. Building good relationships with venue staff makes everything run smoother — they'll help you out in a pinch and give you a heads-up when something looks off.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact between Photomatica and each venue

    • Communicate proactively with venues when a booth is down — explain the issue, give a realistic fix timeline, and follow up when resolved

    • Always have a business card on you; introduce yourself to every staff member at each venue

    Deliveries & Removals

    • Be on-site for photo booth deliveries and assist with initial setup

    • Facilitate booth removals when needed, including coordinating moving logistics, storage, and shipping

    Reporting

    • At the start of each month, email the General Manager with: reimbursement requests (with receipt photos), any additional payments owed, and a general territory update including booth issues and venue notes

    • Log booth visits and issues in shared Google Drive documents

    What We're Looking For

    Required

    • Comfortable with computers and software (Google Drive, spreadsheets, email)

    • Reliable car and valid driver's license with a clean driving record

    • Available on weekends — Thursday through Saturday is our peak revenue window

    • Customer service experience — you'll be the face of Photomatica at each venue

    • Not a frequent traveler — you need to be available in your territory most weekends

    • A team player who communicates proactively and follows through

    Bonus Points

    • Photography experience or a background in photo/print technology

    • Connections to the bar, nightlife, or events scene

    • Experience with basic hardware repair or technical troubleshooting

    What to Expect

Most weeks, the role is light — you'll review the Monday and Friday health reports and only act if something needs attention. Some months are busier than others. The on-call commitment is real, especially around weekends, but the flexibility and hourly rate make it a compelling arrangement for the right person.

If you're planning to be unavailable for a weekend, we ask for at least two weeks' notice. For absences of 7+ days, you'll need to arrange coverage for your territory and ensure all booths are stocked and running before you leave.

    Compensation

    • Percentage of revenue from all booths in your territory

    • Estimated monthly earnings: $1,500–$2,500/month

    • Effective hourly rate: $60–$120+ (based on typical time commitment)

    • Paid via 1099 Independent Contractor

    • Direct deposit around the 15th of each month for the prior month's work

    • Reimbursement for any out-of-pocket purchases made on behalf of Photomatica

Note: Photomatica does not reimburse for fuel, mileage, or parking.
